About Us

12 years of walking for children in need

Founded in 2012 by The Friends of the Children Foundation, the Monash Children’s Hospital Walk enjoyed humble beginnings as a small grassroots community event with fewer than 100 people in attendance. Since then the event has continued to grow every year and has raised over $1.2 million.

This year will be our 13th year, and we’ll be hosting it at the beautiful Jells Park, in Wheelers Hill. Get ready for a day full of fun and prizes. Perfect for the whole family, it’s a fun day out for a great cause.

The walk will help to make a real difference for paediatric patients who have a kidney health (or chronic kidney disease) diagnosis. We’re on a mission to ease the challenges they face during dialysis treatments, transplant surgeries, and other life-saving procedures. Your fundraising efforts go a long way in supporting these children and their families.

About the Monash Children’s Hospital

Monash Children’s Hospital cares for more than 100,000 children every year.

Monash Children’s Hospital is part of Monash Health, Victoria’s largest healthcare service and one of only four accredited Academic Health Science Centres in Australia. We have access to the world’s leading medical minds which are turning research findings into better health outcomes for our patients.

Monash Children’s Hospital is a network of paediatric healthcare services across three sites – our main campus in Clayton (co-located with Monash Medical Centre) and satellite sites at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals.

We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and provide leading paediatric services in Rehabilitation, Oncology, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Palliative Care.

Monash Children’s Hospital is also the Victorian Referral Centre for many low-volume and highly-complex cases. Our services are linked to an adult service, allowing us to provide transition of care as children grow older and move to an adult service.

We deliver specialised, innovative, family-centered care and believe strongly in putting patients first and striving for exceptional care and outstanding outcomes.

The Monash Children’s Hospital dandelion

Dandelions, with an abundance of parachute seeds, have the ability to endure even in the toughest of times – much like the sick babies and children we treat. For centuries, dandelions have carried our wishes for health, wealth and happiness.

Every day, our families make a wish that Monash Children’s Hospital will return their beautiful child home to their loved ones.

And when the future is out of our hands, our doctors and nurses share their wish.

The dandelion is our symbolic reminder that at Monash Children’s Hospital, we make wishes come true every day.
